Meet Janice
Janice Jones grew up as the only, adopted child of a respected doctor and his socialite wife in Celina, Ohio. Before the age of six, she had traveled throughout North America and was the mascot of her father’s hydroplane racing team. Her experiences set her apart from her classmates and made it difficult for her to make friends with children her own age. In the winters she lived in town near the library, and spent hours there, reading and falling in love with books. In the summers she lived on Grand Lake and immersed herself in nature. Her across-the-road neighbor was Louise Steintorf, a New York Times best-selling author. Jones admired how Steintorf could use words to reach people and influence their thinking. Jones wanted to develop that power in herself.
As an adult, Jones had a career as a freelance editor and writer. She became a specialist in creating language arts content for the school-book publishers. She invented a way to use jigsaw puzzles to teach reading skills to children. She also worked as a dog obedience instructor and a book buyer for a large independent bookstore.
Her hobbies are: walking in the woods, riding her ebike, gardening, sewing, and making music with other amateur musicians. Dr. Beare’s Daughter is her fourth published book.
